  • We enjoy the traditional service like I remember from my Lutheran church in Minnesota! The Pastor delivers a fabulous message which is educational as well as meaningful to us and our spiritual life. Pastor Sommerville is very gifted in the message content and presentation. We watch every Sunday on TV and attend the church service when we can.

  • As a member for nearly twelve years, I have now seen this church from all sides, and here's how I'd sum it up: If you choose to come on a Sunday morning, you'll be welcomed by a diverse community (age, ethnically, economically, politically) who all embody this "big tent" church's mission to "Bring the Kingdom of Heaven to Richmond, Virginia". You'll sing traditional hymns and enjoy creative renditions of beautiful, sacred songs. The thoughtful, scripture-based preaching will often challenge your thinking and always leave you with a practical application. This church has over 235 years of history (established in 1780), but its approach and mission are anything but dated. If you are looking for a joyful place to learn more about God without fear of judgment, then you should definitely give this church a good look.

  • Went as a first time guest today to the 11 a.m. service with my wife and we felt very welcomed without being overwhelmed. Enjoyed the traditional nature of the service, the involvement of children in the children's sermon, the beautiful building and grounds as well as their transparency regarding church finances and goals. We plan to attend regularly. Arrive early as parking is limited.

  • The best church I have ever been a part of. Miss it, and the staff dearly.
